As some of you may know, there was a Super-D race at Afton this last weekend, as part of the 72-Hours of Afton Festival. This was not a textbook Super-D race as the course contained several DH features. I’m also proud to say that I saw more full-helmets and pads than spandex.

The winner of the Super-D was Thor Shellum with a time of 2:24.56. There were other fast riders and several that might have done even better had they not just finished the 24hr race; but at the end of the day no one could come within 8 seconds of Thor’s time.

We’d like to thank everyone who was involved in making this race possible. That includes all the LCR and MFC riders that helped build the course as well as the main sponsors: Salsa, Nightrider, and Fair Exchange Coffee.

Most of all, a big thanks goes out to Afton and John Rentz for working with us to allow a progressive course that will hopefully help lay the ground work for future events.
