Last weekend in Grinders Bike Shop put on a their Annual Dirt Jam. Delayed a day by rain the event still looks to have been fun, and the set up looked great this year! Props to the build crew!

The first Grill ‘n Chill of the summer went down at the Red Wing DH course on Saturday. Reports are sketchy as to whether or not any grilling actually went down, but my sources tell me that there was copious amounts of chilling. There were also reports of trail building taking place in the area, but at this time we have no pictures to confirm that.
What we do have are some awesome photos by Ben Berndt.

Yesterday saw the return of the Coffee Mill Ski Area’s winter downhill bike race. Held on the same track as the snowboard and ski cross, there was much potential for carnage and the spectators were not disappointed. More than one competitor went home with broken bones.
The race was dominated by the old men, with the entire podium being over the age of 36. Dave Tait held onto the first place for the second year in a row. Shawn Sheely came in second piloting the only 29r in the race and Rich Omdahl came in third.
The riders raced head to head in a double elimination format so everyone was guaranteed two runs with the faster riders hanging on for more. Despite some grumbling about the long wait at the start of the race and the opportunity for only one practice run, everyone’s attitude improved once the race was underway. There was plenty of racing action with many of the heats being won by less than a wheel length.
Thanks to Coffee Mill Ski Area, the race organizers and the racers for a great event!
UPDATE: Shawn Sheely has posted a stellar write-up about the event on his blog.
