Lift assisted biking in Duluth MN

Spirit Mountain is contemplating running a lift for biking next summer I know it is a real possibility but is not for sure yet. It is being discussed, they are not sure if there is enough interest to make it worth it. I was hoping we could help them make it happen by showing our support for a bike park in Duluth MN. So here are some questions to get this forum moving. What are you looking for in a riding destination/ bike park. Would you buy a season pass if they were offered? Attend a build day to help maintain the trail system? Take a trip to ride there? Basically would you ride if there was The opportunity and what are you looking for. please help this happen post something they are looking for interest at this point. So help open more lift assisted gravity mountain biking in the mid west by posting up some thing showing your support and maybe we can help make it happen.

I'd come up there for sure....I was one of the cats that helped cut the Original DH courses up there and ran the Greenman DH, and Duluth Jigantic Jam which brought 50+ riders and 20 some odd photogs to the hill(with no lifts!). I would say there is interest!

I'd love to see - an advanced skills park.
- a flowy Dh track
- a technical DH course (great spot over on the far side of the ski resort, hiked it many times, over by timber cruiser
-Keep the current course and buff it out so there is something for beginners!
- DS/4x track
- a DJ area

weRd!

PS: Maybe we here at MFC could help run a trail day?

Driving to Duluth from the twin cities area beats the hell out of flying out west! I would make my best effort to come ride in Duluth. I believe that if we're willing to spend a couple grand on a bike, then we should be willing to drive a few hours and spend some work on a course, along with a little more money to have a great time.

I forgot to mention what id like to see. A 4x track would be crazy awesome! Does anyone know how the other 4x tracks are run? Like, the ABA controls most of the bmx racing scene. I agree with the flowy dh trail, and i am definitely a fan of bigger jumps.

*Emphasis on big kid jumps
*4x track seems out of reach, but would be awesome
*drops
*Basically anything we see in riding videos. I have seen too many riding videos that make me jealous.

I would definitely buy a pass if they were to start running lifts regularly in the summer.
I'd like to see a fast, technical DH course. Seems like Sprit has ideal terrain for that kind of course.

Yes, the rumors were true! I am in support ofthe idea on all fronts, making trips, build days etc.

Adam had a few great Ideas as far as layout goes! Hope this happens.

I would definitely help with organized build days if something were going to be built up there. I'm not sure I would purchase a season riding pass but I would be interested in weekend trips every so often. I am all for supporting the project!

i joined the board just to give some input. if this happens it would perhaps be enough to make me keep my p.1

id like to see a nice flowy dh trail, mostly long/low jumps with a few boosty ones in there too. gnarly fast berms. nothing too tight or technical, just something you can really get into the motions with while really pinning a line down the hill. like a dirt jump set but stretched out and much much faster.

In Duluth, I'd be there a lot, definitely a season passer! I'd be more than willing to volunteer to build something that close to home. As far as what I'd ;ike to see in a bike park, teeters, drops, BERMS, skinnies, big tables, the occasional 60 degree slope, and, being in Duluth, a nice big rock garden would be cool. Oh, and flow, flow is good. The usual stuff. I wouldn't personally be looking for anything specific but just a place with the capacity to really push yourself and have an awesome time while riding with friends until the sun goes down.

Spirit is pretty fun the way it is even having to walk back up. I can only imagine how awesome it would be with some dedicated runs and a lift!
